description
The main feature of our Prague hotel accommodation is its location in a working monastery and its surrounding gardens.

This allows the guest to get away from the surrounding city while retaining its conveniences. The rooms all retain some elements of the original architecture. The rustically decorated restaurant located next to the hotel has a warm atmosphere and in winter there is an open log fire.

The surrounding gardens are perfect for a relaxing stroll especially during a break from a business meeting or after a meal. The gardens are popular for wedding guests who get married in the monastery church and also stay in the hotel.

The whole hotel is a WIFI zone. Reception is able to organise all activities that might be required by guests for business or for pleasure.

  • how this holiday makes a difference
The staff at our Prague hotel accommodation have been trained according to our policy and action program and have been strongly encouraged to make suggestions as to how we can improve the hotels green functioning. Water flow from the taps and shower doesn’t exceed 12 litres per minute, urinals flush only when they have been used and we use rain water to water plants. Staff has been trained to look for leaks and report them to the management. We limit unnecessary detergent use by not washing towels and sheets every day, instead we wash linens every 3 days or upon request. We have asked the local administration for its waste water plan.

Prague hotel accommodation, SceneryStrong chemical disinfectants are only used where strictly necessary to comply with EU hygiene requirements. Our staff has been trained not to exceed the recommended dilution for cleaning chemicals. Eco-label detergents and chemicals are used whenever possible. Separate bins have been provided for plastics, paper, glass and organic waste. Hazardous waste (inks, toners, batteries etc) are separated and disposed of appropriately. By using refillable soap dispensers we don’t have to through away half used soaps and there are no wrappings to dispose of. All hotel waste is disposed of and recycled where ever possible, (plastics, chemicals, paper, glass and organic waste).

All organic waste is composted at our Prague hotel accommodation. Disposable, one off products, such as soaps, shower caps, cutlery etc have been kept to a minimum. We try to reduce our waste production, for example by using filtered water instead of bottled water. We use no disposable drinks cans. Used textiles and furniture are given to charity. Paper for the printers is used on both sides before being disposed of. Where ever possible recycled paper is used.

We have added extra thermal insulation to all windows of the hotel, the hotel does not use an air-conditioning system and all the lights in the hallways are only activated briefly when they sense movement. Energy efficient light bulbs are used throughout the hotel. Heating is individually regulated in each room.

We buy from local stores if possible (florist, butcher, hardware etc) and food from local suppliers is sourced for breakfast. We encourage our guests to use public transport by giving free tram tickets. We support cultural heritage by having the hotel in the oldest male monastery in the central Europe and we are giving money to restore this wonderful heritage. We give our used textile to charity.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
