day-by-day itinerary
| A Typical Day Morning: Our base is the guesthouse, where we meet each morning for breakfast. The main activity in the morning is paddling. En route we stop at hidden beaches and caves for swimming, snorkelling and exploring. Lunch: While kayaking we stop at typical local taverns and restaurants. The food is delicious and the prices reasonable (for example, you can get delicious seafood risotto at €6, first class grilled fish at €10-€15). Near those taverns there are also grocery stores where one can buy a sandwich at €1-€1.5. Afternoon: After lunch we usually have a siesta, since it is the hottest part of the day. Then you can swim, snorkel, explore the island or simply sit in a shade and enjoy your afternoon coffee. After the siesta, we continue our kayaking expedition. Late afternoon: We return to the guesthouse. There is usually some time between our return from kayaking and dinner so you can relax in your room or take a walk. Evening: We dine in a cosy local restaurant. Three dinners are included in price. Food is one of the highlights on this tour. You can enjoy typical Mediterranean specialties, seafood, fresh vegetables seasoned with excellent olive oil. Vegetarian food is available as well. |
travellers' tales
The beauty of the island, the hot sunshine, the incredible scenery, the balmy evenings drinking nightcaps by the sea, eating ice creams on the beach, the plentiful opportunities for swimming, the great company, the entertaining guides, the fun kayaking in crystal clear turquoise waters, the relaxation time - it was all wonderful! how this holiday makes a difference
We work with local guest houses on the islands and we do not take the commission from the local guesthouse owners. All of our guides are aware of their surrounding and they are constantly providing the travellers with suggestions of how to minimize potential negative impacts to the environment and marine ecosystems. Our guides emphasize on the importance of leaving the environment as it is. We observe marine life but we do not disturb it. Our kayaks are made of recyclable plastic. They do not cause any form of air or water pollution and they do not produce noise that could be disturbing for marine life. We suggest that our travellers visit historically, culturally and environmentally important sights (Old Town of Dubrovnik, Renaissance villas on the island of Sipan, Nature Park Lokrum). |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
