the amazing things you'll be doing
Home to the world's most ancient forests and framed by the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree in Tropical North Queensland, Australia, is spectacular.
See the magnificence of fan palm forests with a small, exclusive group. Cruise through the world’s most diverse mangrove community in search of elusive crocodiles, and discover the nocturnal sights, sounds and movements of the rainforest with a local custodian.
We are in the middle of the Daintree rainforest – the world’s oldest rainforest. It sustains an extraordinary biodiversity and has been described as the 'valley of rainforest dinosaurs'. Here is the richest, most diverse and ancient part of the Daintree and essential visitation for tourists wanting a genuine rainforest experience.
Cooper Creek is the central conduit of the 135-million year old Daintree rainforest. It supports an abundance of species that have persevered in isolation, constituting the world’s closest living counterpart to the ancient rainforests of Gondwana.
350 million years of evolution have created a wilderness of rare, ancient and primitive species that can only be appreciated through expert interpretation. Participants are taken in small groups directly into the heart of the primary rainforest away from the designated boardwalks and mass tourism at its periphery. It is humbling to stand in the heart of an ancient fan palm rainforest that has survived the changes wrought by time and to realise that this was Gondwana.
Two hour guided interpreted day walks through five forest types provides the best insight into the diversity, beauty and complexity of the ancient Gondwana rainforest. Cultural and Natural Heritage are interwoven with ecological values and the biodiversity.
AU $40 adult or AU $30 child
Two hour guided interpreted night walks complement the day walks by exploring the secretive wildlife that only reveal itself at night. Combine Day & Night Walks for a better understanding of the nature of the forest.

|
Our company was established to manage and conserve World Heritage rainforest. Its funding is derived from a style of tourism that respects the fragility, biodiversity and antiquity of the land. We adhere to the principles of ecotourism defined as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well being of local and indigenous people.
We aim to present the exceptional values of the sacred heart of the Daintree to responsible tourists who aspire to a higher level of interpretation and in exclusive groups. In the development of our products, we aim to establish mutually supportive partnerships that foster a shared vision for conservation of the exceptional rainforest with financial benefits derived from high quality tourism. The principal aim is to develop and conduct an ecologically sustainable and economically viable ecotourism business on the Land that will contribute financially to the management and conservation of this World Heritage Nature Refuge in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest. The rewards of participation, beyond the awe-inspiring yet humbling experience of the Daintree’s most magnificent rainforest, include the knowledge that payments contribute to the conservation objective. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
