what excites us about this holiday
Immerse yourself in wilderness on this tour, where breathtaking mountainscapes are mirrored in the glassy lakes of Patagonia. For me the highlight would be to spot an ocean giant sliding through the icy waters of Antarctica or to witness penguins going about their daily rituals. Lisa, responsibletravel.com

how this holiday makes a difference
On this holiday we work with a large number of people in Chile. Everything from the transport and local guides to accommodation and excursions, we book directly, ensuring maximum benefit for local communities. It also means that your holiday is more interesting as you get to interact with the locals.

Your guide has extensive knowledge and experience of this specific route through the Torres del Paine park. You are in safe hands and can share in his knowledge of the environment.

The Antarctic Dream is wholly Chilean owned and therefore more of the benefit from your trip stays in the region. Small groups in Antarctica minimise any impact on the wildlife and since there are under 100 passengers, there is no limit to the length of shore landings and you will get more from your time on shore. Expert guides and leaders know how best to minimise the impact of any landings. They will also educate you as to how to behave, particularly on shore. You must wear boots that we provide on shore at all times. These are cleaned and disinfected by staff before and after all shore visits to ensure that no ‘alien matter’ is transferred onto the shore. Antarctic Dream is a full member of IAATO (International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators) which promotes safe and environmentally responsible travel to the Antarctic.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
