how this holiday makes a difference
We promote sustainable travels that benefit the local regions we visit, by making the following efforts:
  • Supporting the local economy: Food items are purchased locally to support local grocery stores as opposed to large whole sale agencies. Transportation is arranged through local transportation companies. Accommodations are chosen based on local ownership and especially prioritizing those with an environmental policy in place. All of the guides are long-time residents of the local regions visited.
  • Minimal use of gas-powered vehicles: You utilize your own energy for transportation as much as possible by hiking, biking, kayaking etc, and small vehicles are used only when necessary to transport the group over longer distances.
  • Contributing to local restoration projects: We contribute to local restoration and bio-diversity projects in order to protect and preserve the areas we visit.
  • Small group sizes to minimize impact: Group sizes are kept small in order to adhere to the carrying capacity of the regions visited. Size varies from 2-18 participants.
  • Supporting local as well as international eco tourism efforts: As a member of The International Eco Tourism Society, The Swedish Eco Tourism Society and Leave No Trace, we support both local and international efforts to make the travel industry more sustainable and to think "green" rather than mass production.
  • Practicing the principles of Leave No Trace: We are an active member of Leave No Trace - a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and inspiring responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and partnerships. Leave No Trace builds awareness, appreciation and respect for wild lands. We promote the principles of Leave No Trace whenever possible.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
