the amazing things you'll be doing
Arriving in Brazil you will be met by your driver who will take you to your hotel.

Boutique hotel in Rio de Janeiro - 2 nights: Set against a stunning backdrop of mountains, lagoons and beaches, Rio is a place to both relax and enjoy the pleasures of city life.

Being based here ourselves, we are uniquely positioned to get you closer to the residents and their culture; we are on hand to help you, from organising samba lessons and speedboat trips, to explaining local etiquette and where the locals go to enjoy authentic live music.

Vitor, (a Rio local himself) will arrange a day to give you a personalised luxury city tour, showing you those hidden details often missed by the conventional tours and stopping at an excellent local restaurant for lunch before visiting the ‘must see’ attraction of Christ the Redeemer. Everything is done at your own pace, with relaxed and friendly guidance.

You stay in a luxury boutique hotel set in an exclusive, neighbourhood where you have our favourite suite; beautifully decorated with a veranda that enjoys a fantastic view of the lagoon and Christ the redeemer. The staff here are excellent and the pousada immaculate and luxurious with beautiful communal areas and a pool for you to relax by.

Colonial Pousada in Chapada Diamantina - 4 nights: Enjoy breathtaking hikes and mountain-bike trips deep in the interior of Bahia, interspersed with dips into the many crystalline streams and pools so fresh and clean you can drink from them. For the more adventurous, scuba diving deep into the caves is a great option, as is rappelling the underground caves and rivers. Our English speaking guide, Rony will help you to discover this dramatic, unspoilt landscape. You stay in a delightful converted colonial house, which is full of antique furniture and comfortable nooks to relax in.

Colonial Hotel in Salvador - 2 nights: There's a great deal of new experiences to pack into a couple of days in Salvador, from watching the impromptu displays of capoeira the slave's athletic fight/dance to attending Candomble rituals, An African religion that has deep roots in Salvador. Another delight occurs here on a Tuesday night when the samba drums come out in force, and Pelourinho turns into a street party with the best Bahian music, food and dance on every corner. A delight for the senses.

You'll be staying in a real gem, set in a quiet side street, walking distance from the heart of the historic centre. It effortlessly combines modern design features with the colonial architecture. Your suite has been specially selected, with a terrace that looks out across the famous Bay of all Saints.

Rustic Island Beach Pousada - 4 nights: You stay in a charming rustic pousada, where you can enjoy breakfast served on your own private veranda in this truly stunning location. There are perfect unspoilt beaches for you to explore, where palms and white sand meet the warm clear water, a real tropical island paradise.

The next morning, Israel, our ‘man on the ground', will be waiting outside in a speedboat, ready to take you on your own unforgettable journey around the islands, visiting natural swimming pools created in the reef, where floating bars serve fresh caipirinhas as you relax in the crystalline turquoise water. Lunch is spent with local character Guido who is never without a fresh supply of lobster that his wife and daughter cook up on the beach along with other simply delicious Bahian specialties.

The afternoon is spent visiting deserted beaches, a trip to the first colonial town in Brazil, and stopping off for other culinary delights, such as oysters prepared with lime and chilli at a pontoon a little way up a river. You will know everything, from where to see dolphins jumping in the bay as the sun sets, to the best restaurants and bars.

how this holiday makes a difference
Beach on Brazil holiday In Rio your hotel has just 5 rooms, meaning both a minimal impact on the environment and a more personal involvement with the locally sourced staff. Employing local people allows you to step out of the tourist bracket, and discover much more of this city than usually possible.

Equally important to us, because of how much the business and the clients gain from them is giving these staff the opportunity to earn money, improve their English and show off their home to you. They are immensely proud of their city, making them extremely good at their job, energetic and fun.

All food and materials in Boipeba are sourced from the village where possible, the pousada being a valuable customer to these locals. The fish for dinner will have been caught by fishermen earlier that day and vegetables come from local gardens.

Part of the cost of your holiday goes towards the planting of 20 hard wood trees in the Mata Atlantica, under the guidance of R.E.G.U.A. (Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu) who protect one of the last stands of primary tropical rainforest left in the severely depleted Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
