how this holiday makes a difference
We are governed by a board of directors, which is made up entirely of local Aboriginal people, elected by the Aboriginal people in the Uluru region. They make up the membership of Nyangatjatjara Aboriginal Corporation. Profits from the company are distributed to our three local Aboriginal communities for community development purposes. We are proud of the way our company conducts tours, and the way we can help make our communities stronger through involvement in tourism. We know you will enjoy our tours and come away feeling you have had a very special experience. You will also know that you have contributed to our local economy in a very meaningful way. Responsible tourism principles are our very reason for our existence. We exist in order to provide jobs and economic resources to some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia. In the process we give our people a renewed sense of pride in our culture, and a reason for creating a better future. We endeavor:
|
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
