the amazing things you'll be doing
Arguably to have suffered the most from the Vietnam War and its aftermath, brave Cambodia lives on as custodian to the treasures of the ancient Khmer Empire. In the heart of Indochina, Cambodia is rich in cultural traditions much of which predates that of neighbouring Thailand.

A former French colony, Cambodia has much in the way of colonial charm and the French influence is very much apparent in the capital city of Phnom Penh. The recent period of calm and stability has lead to a renaissance in the country and Siem Reap, gateway to the Temples of Angkor, has seen as incredible spurt in hotel development.

Explore the colonial charm of the capital and the ancient treasures of Angkor on a private tour and then relax and the beaches of Cambodia. This tour includes the services of your own private driver / guide.

The best time to go
There are three seasons.
Dry: November to March.
Hot: March to June
Rainy: May to October.
N.B. Siem Reap (Angkor) is generally cooler than Phnom Penh.

travellers' tales
Highlights of our holiday to Cambodia were: the amazing temple at Angkor Wat and climbing right to the top; travelling right out into the far northern countryside to see temples very few tourists get to. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
In Siem Reap clients stay at the Shinta Mani Hotel. This hotel supports the Shinta Mani Hotel and Institute of Hospitality - a vocational training facility funded from the operations of the hotel as well as from private individuals. The students are selected by various local NGO’s in consultation with the management of the school and all are orphans or young Cambodians at risk

Besides paying no fees each student is paid a monthly stipend, uniforms, meals, study materials and a weekly supply of 4 kilograms of rice for their families.

The current 16 students are on a 9 month culinary course and when completed they will be able to find permanent employment with-in the Siem Reap area.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
