day-by-day itinerary
| Day 1: | Arrival Manila. We meet up at our hotel in Manila, capital of the Philippines, with about 15 million inhabitants. In this big city you will find shopping malls, street restaurants and numerous cars and people on the streets. If you arrive early, our tour leader will give you suggestions on what to do during the day. In the evening we have a welcome dinner. |
| Day 2-4: | Sipalay on sugar island. After breakfast we will take the plane to Baclod on Negros. Negros is called "Sugar Island", because the island is the largest producer of sugar cans in the Philppines. From Bacolod we will go by van to the small village of Sipalay. We are going to stay at a small white beach outside the village. Here we can relax on the beach and enjoy our holiday. Those who would like can go snorkeling or diving. One day we will go on a tour in the areas around Sipalay, with a local guide. We will, among other things, visit a cave and also go into the jungle and visit the local market. |
| Day 5-7: | To the island of healers - Siquijor. After breakfast we will go by van to Dumaguete, the biggest city on Negros. The trip will go over mountains with a spectacular view outside our window. On the way we will make a stop to enjoy lunch. From Dumgugete we are going to take the ferry to Siquijor. This is a beautiful little island on the south part of Visayas. The island is mostly known for its healers and witches. We will stay in a nice resort by the sea. You will have plenty of time to spend at the beach. One of the days we will make a trip around the island and visit a beautiful waterfall with turquoise natural pools and also one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. |
| Day 8: | Day 8 Beach or life in the jungle?. You will now have the option to choose between staying at the beach in Alona or do some minor adventure in the jungle at Loboc River. After breakfast we will take a traditional "banka boat" from Siquijor to Alona Beach on Panglao Island. Those who choose to stay on Alona check in at the hotel and have the afternoon free for their own activities. Those who choose the jungle excursion will take a van to Loboc and Nuts Huts. At Nuts Huts we stay in simple but charming Nipa huts built in local style. In the evening we will walk the 110 steps up to the restaurant. We will also get briefed about tomorrow. |
| Day 9-10: | Alona Beach / Nuts Huts. Those who stay on Alona Beach can relax. Alona has everything you might expect from a tropical holiday, a beautiful beach, great diving, seaside restaurants and bars. Those who stay in Nuts Huts are in for an early breakfast before we make a trek though the jungle up the hill to some really beautiful caves. The hike will take us about 5 hours. Back at Nuts Huts we recommend a massage. Why not try a most unusual herbal sauna. Nuts Huts is famous for its good and healthy food, a place you will remember for the rest of your life. Day 10 the group will meet up again. We will continue together to visit the mysterious Chocolate Hills, an area consisting of more than 1000 almost identical small hills (up to 120 meters high) and the Tarsier centre, where efforts are made to save the endangered tarsier. We are also going to visit some other historical places on the island and if you like we can also visit a local market. |
| Day 11-13: | Alona Beach. We are now going to have 3 whole days on Alona Beach. One of the days we will make a snorkeling trip to Balicasaq, a small village about 40 minutes by boat from Alona. Here you will find excellent snorkeling and diving sites. Lunch will be a BBQ on the white coral beach. Alona Beach has more than just sunbathing and diving to offer. If you like you can take a "banka boat" early in the morning and go dolphin spotting or why not to go Bohol Bee farm, which is an ecological farm. Our tour leader will help you find activities of your choice. |
| Day 14: | Back to Manila. We leave Panglao Island and Alona Beach and head for the airport in Tagbilarian on Bohol where we will take the plane back to Manila. We arrive around lunch. In Manila you will have time for shopping in some of the big malls or you can visit Intramours or the Chinese cemetery, a truly remarkable experience. We will have dinner together at a traditional Philippine restaurant. |
| Day 15: | Going home. If you want to extend your holiday in the Philippines we can help you with planning and bookings. |

|
The Philippines is one of the world's most beautiful countries, but also a forgotten nation in the sense of a tourist destination. Today the Philippines are a democratic country struggling to get their economy at hand. As one of the few tour operators to the Philippines we hope to make a difference. By booking these tours, you'll be helping us to support Philippine service providers, small businesses, boat owners and other people in poor communities throughout the Philippines. Both the Filipino economy and the environment e.g. forests and coral reefs, depend on tourism.
In many places dynamite fishing has come to an end and instead of fishing, fishermen now days make a living out of tourism and help to preserve coral reefs. Our tour guide Barbro has a wide experience and knowledge of the Philippines and the Filipino culture and traditions. In 1997 she worked in the Philippines to collect information about the textile cultural heritage among the Filipino women's. Today she spends the European winters in the Philippines, working as a dive instructor. During the tour you will also get to meet our local guides who will give you an even deeper understanding of the Filipino people and some more specific information about the areas being visited. During our round tour of Bohol we will pay a visit to the tarsier centre, a centre working to save the world's smallest primate. By visiting the centre you contribute to the tarsier foundation, and help save the species from being extinct. You will also have the possibility to go on small day trips which support the local environment and economy for example whale and dolphin watching organized by former whale hunters or a round tour of the mangrove run by a local small village. Wherever possible, we stay in locally owned guesthouses and hotels and eat at locally owned restaurants. In some places like Nuts Huts they try their best to only use small local suppliers. Going from one place to another we use public buses, jeepneys and boats to help minimize the affect on climate; it is also a great chance to meet local travellers. Sometimes, when there are no other options, we charter a locally owned boat or bus with a local driver. On all our tours our main goal is to give the travellers great memories and also a feeling of having learned new things about cultures but also of having contributed to a positive development of the area being visited. Respect for local people, their cultures, traditions and environment is essential to us. Throughout our tours we work hard to ensure that our groups have a positive impact on the places and people visited. On arrival our tour guide will give a briefing about local customs, traditions, religion, body language and eating habits. There are no more than 10 travellers on our tour. Travelling in a small group help minimize environmental impact and also makes it easier to interact with the local communities. Before you go on our tour you will receive our Responsible Travellers code of conduct which will give you details on how you can play an important part in reducing your impact on the fragile environments and cultures around the world. But it is not only what we, and our clients, do on tour that counts. In our office we also try to minimize the negative impact on the environment. For example we do not print brochures due to the huge paper wastage and print runs; all information about us and our tours our clients can find on the Internet. The office use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible and recycle everything possible: paper, plastic, metal, glass etc. The company is a member of the Swedish Eco Tourism Association and of Ecpat, a non-profit organisation that works against sexual abuse of children and child prostitution. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
