the amazing things you'll be doing
Diving day trip: From Kr24990 (approx £130) (1 day) ex flights.
This trip includes two dives in Silfra ravine. Silfra is one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets. It is situated in the heart of Þingvellir, the site of the world’s oldest parliament and a UNESCO world heritage site. The Silfra is an otherworldly scene located directly on top of the rift between the continents of America and Europe. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you glide along with the lazy current. Visibility is amazing and is only limited by the density of the water itself. Depth varies from 10 to 30 meters. This is without question one of the best dive sites in the world.
Departures: Guaranteed everyday at 9am, all year round.
Minimum age: 18 years.
Bring with you: Very warm clothing i.e. fleece or wool sweater, pants, socks and a change of clothing. Includes: All diving gear and PADI guide/instructor.
Please note: PADI open water or compatible required, PADI advance and dry suit certificates recommended. All dives are performed in a dry suit. Divers have to supply sizes on suit before hand.

River rafting on the Hvítá river day trip: From Kr6590 (approx £35) (1 day) ex flights, with pick-up from Kr9990 (approx £67).
The Hvítá river is a beautiful and fun river a one hour drive from Reykjavík. For over 20 years the rafting trip has been Iceland´s most popular adventure activity. The river has a perfectly balanced mix of serene canyons and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids. As we pass through the magnificent Brúarhlöð canyon participants have the option of jumping from a cliff into the river. Nobody should leave Iceland without experiencing the power that its rivers contain and lay eyes on the scenic canyons of Hvítá river.
Departures: Guaranteed everyday at 12pm from Reykjavik City from 1 June - 31 August.
Minimum age: 12 years.
Bring with you: a warm sweater, bathing suit, change of clothing and a towel. No knowledge of the sport required.

Kayaking day trip: From Kr7990 (approx £42) (1 day) ex flights, with pick-up from Kr9990 (approx £52).
This trip will take you kayaking on the serene and beautiful Hvalfjörður fjord. This deep fjord is framed in by mountains that stretch from the sea up to more than 1000 meters. The kayaks are stable and easy to use. You do not need prior experience since your guide will teach you the technique on location. We paddle along the coast and enjoy the magnificent views. Then we take to shore and relax in the quiet Icelandic countryside. In short we will pick you up from Reykjavík and take you paddling on one of the most breathtaking fjords in Iceland. Here is your chance to visit this must see location in style!
Departures: Guaranteed every Monday at 9am from Reykjavik City from 10 June - 31 August.
Minimum age: 16 years.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing i.e. fleece sweater and pants, change of clothing and swimwear. No knowledge of the sport required.

Canoeing day trip: From Kr7990 (approx £42) (1 day) ex flights, with pick-up from Kr10990 (approx £70).
Canoeing is the perfect activity if you are looking for a hands on adventure out in the Icelandic nature. The canoes are inflated and selfbailing, meaning that they do not fill with water and are easy to manoeuvre. Two people sit together in the canoe and steer it, meanwhile a guide in a kayak makes sure everything is safe and sound. We paddle down the Hvítá river which has a perfectly balanced mix of serene canyons and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids. We travel for 7 kilometers and at one point participants get to jump from a cliff into the river. We only recommend this trip to those looking for action and are in good physical condition.
Departures: Guaranteed everyday at 12pm from Reykjavik City from 1 June - 31 August.
Minimum age: 14 years.
Bring with you: a warm sweater, bathing suit, change of clothing and a towel. No knowledge of the sport required.

travelling with a local operator
This holiday is operated by a company based in the holiday destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your holiday to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.
how this holiday makes a difference
On our rafting, canoeing, sea-kayaking, snorkelling and diving tours on and in the magnificent Icelandic rivers, fjords and lakes we place a heavy emphasis on our leave no trace policy:

  • Kill nothing but time
  • Take nothing but photographs
  • Leave nothing but footprints
  • Make nothing but memories

At the start of every trip we will provide participants with information on how best to pass through with out leaving their mark, so future generations can visit these special places in their natural state. Each trip has a different approach, for example a diving trip and raft trip have different focus points. This means for example that divers exit and enter dive sites at designated places only to minimize intrusion and effect on the nature. On every trip all participants are instructed not to remove anything from site and try their utmost not to disturb wild life.

When we need transport between places or transfer of people, luggage or supplies we offset the carbon emission through the Icelandic Carbon fund. We take part in the Icelandic Nature Conservation organization and through them take an active part in supervision over constructions in the highlands of Iceland. The organization is public forum that issues statements and gives their opinion on all matters concerning construction in the Icelandic nature.

We recycle as much of our waste as possible. Both at our office, at our base camps, in our restaurant and on tours we take all waste with us and dispose of it after the trip. We only use local guides, Icelanders that are passionate about their environment and its conservation. We run our own guide school here in Iceland. There we train all our own guides.

Environmental matters are kind of imprinted in all Icelanders. We are the only nation that depends solely on renewable energies for heating our houses and creating electricity (no fossil fuels except for cars). The conservation of electricity here in Iceland is therefore not the same big issue as else where in Europe. We also have an abundant supply of water since we have very much rain- and snowfall. In addition to that the Icelandic nature is so unspoiled that all running water in Iceland is fit for drinking, right out of the rivers and streams. Hence bottled water is not an environmental concern, it is not used on any of our trips.

Every single trip we operate is genially Icelandic, packed lunches are made with Icelandic ingredients such as cabin smoked lamb from Húsavík, dried fish from Vestfirðir. If we dine in restaurants we eat for example at Rauða Húsið or Hafið Bláa Icelandic seafood restaurants in the small towns of Eyrarbakki and Stokkseyri on North Atlantic coast. All our services are performed in the countryside or highlands and we are fiercely local, using only hostels, guesthouses or hotels where we have a personal relationship with its owners and staff.
  • Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
