the amazing things you'll be doing
Croatia water sports activity holiday, blue escape
Dubrovnik Riviera offers blue and warm Adriatic sea, green coastline off the beautiful islands of Lokrum and Kolocep, hidden bays and beaches, so many things to discover and ways to combine activities and leisure.

This tour is about sea activities: sea kayaking, snorkeling, and swimming. There are many ways to discover an area, but it is always more different and interesting when you admire it from the sea, paddling in kayak, from the boat or behind the glass of snorkeling mask. There is old saying in Croatia: if you put your finger in the sea you are connected with the entire world. Through our trip you won't see all the world but you will see and enjoy this small part known as Dubrovnik Riviera.

how this holiday makes a difference
All suppliers for this trip are local people and institutions. We provide accommodation in private houses, we organize lunches and dinner in small family run restaurants or tavern who serve domestic food and beverages, we pay tickets for the botanical garden on island Lokrum and we support it. We keep the sea and coast clean and never leave any traces or litter, every efforts is made to minimize our presence in the sea or on the coast. We are very active in cleaning beaches and underwater with other scuba diving and fisherman’s association.

We travel in small groups (up to 16) and use many services of local people. Through our trips we encourage our guests to buy local hand made souvenirs and to buy locally grown products such as herbs, brandy, wine, cheese, honey etc. Benefits from our presence in the environment are very positive because we always try to give much more than we get. We use recycled paper. We recycle all our waste paper (brochures, etc). Our correspondence and promotion is carried out via the internet and email, minimizing the amount of paper used for our activities.

We support different local ecological associations and our staff was directly involved in afforestation (planting of pine trees in Dubrovnik area after fire disaster in summer 2007). Besides this afforestation during autumn 2008 and a couple of seasons before, we directly support and we are involved in the ecological action of cleaning the sea. This underwater cleaning is ecological action which is support by local diving centers and fisherman's associations. The planting trees of and underwater cleaning are ecological actions which we have supported for many years; moreover I am one of founders of this ecological association.

We encourage travellers to be more responsible with water waste, and we inform all our travellers before their tour about area, especially travelers on tours when they are in protected areas, sea or countryside. We inform travellers about local cultures and habits, we inform our travellers that leaving litter in the sea or beach could have very negative consequences to the fish, sea ecosystem and finally themselves.

We inform travellers to be very careful with fire and to avoid open fire during summer, if they would like to go on fishing we suggest them to go with some local fishermen, if they go scuba diving we inform them about diving clubs which will take them to underwater archaeological sights which are protected and conserved. During their diving or snorkelling it is not allowed to take away anything from the sea except feeling good.

Croatia water sportsAs the transportation is very important in tourism, we support the idea of green transport; cleaner vehicle options which helps area to stay cleaner. We encourage our clients to use public transport and bikes especially when they are on the Islands. We encourage our clients to choose kayaking rather then boat excursions, walking rather than coaching tours and sailing rather then speed boats etc.

All our guides are local and we train our staff to be more responsible for the local environment and ecology. We buy local products as the souvenirs for our partners and we encourage our guests to buy local products. We use local services as much as we can. For restaurants we always choose restaurants with character (mostly family run restaurants with local specialities). On all our tours we use local produce and provide local-style meals, and we encourage our guests to try local dishes and delicacies. We use a lot of locally owned accommodation and this provides direct income for local house owners.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
